There are two types of BlackBerry service available for your BlackBerry phone, these are:
- BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES)
BlackBerry Enterprise Service is designed for business use and provides complete "over the air" synchronisation of your Outlook data :-
Sent and Received email, Address Book, Calendar, Task List.
BlackBerry Enterprise Service needs to be enabled in two places –
- On your phone (call your mobile service provider and have it enabled*)
- On your server or by using a hosted service such as ours
Using a hosted service such as ours will save tens of thousands of pounds on you having to purchase and maintain your own in house Microsoft Exchange and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
* There is usually a service charge to enable BlackBerry Enterprise Service on your phone
- BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)
BlackBerry Internet Service is designed for consumer or prosumer and Provides simple e-mail 'push' delivery to your BlackBerry device.
There is no real-time Synchronisation for your sent emails, calendar, address book or task list until you plug your BlackBerry into your computer and manually synchronise.
You can still use our hosted Exchange account with your BIS although the synchronisation restrictions still apply.
